In the below video by KSLlive, a simple game of catch between kids can be replaced by a robot.
Playing catch or even riding a bike is now on the brink of extinction. Who knows what other technology will come about and take another physical activity from society. Technology is the basis for adolescent life or any life for that matter. Instead of childhood hobbies being playing sports and running wild like a child should, childhood is now revolved around video games and such. When I was a child we had some technology for leisure but not any compared to today. So I spent my free time outside participating in sports. Today, that is not the case. Kids today would rather stay inside and sit on their butts than go take part in some strenuous, physical activity. In an article entitled "Is technology making your kids lazy?", KCENTV reporters interview children and their parents about the role of technology in their lives and what they think about it. The kids were excited to share their favorite technologies and express their feelings about them while the parents reminisced about how the world used to be. The world has changed and technology is the norm but this is why we're lazy. Society's laziness will constantly continue to grow alongside the growing of technology and as that happens, the level of participation in youth sports will continue to fall.
